Stefania Altomare Artist Biography 🇬🇧/🇺🇸




Stefania Altomare is a singer-songwriter and producer from Southern Italy  who writes  original songs and plays guitar since early age .
She has been opening act for Edoardo Bennato, Enrico Ruggeri, Giò Di Tonno, Niccolò Fabi,  
Almamegretta .

 

During the early 2000s she got through many editions of the unsigned rock bands music contest called the  I-Tim Tour Estate run formerly by Red Ronnie (alongside with the Tv program broadcasted on Italia 1 "Bande Sonore"  with  Vanessa Incontrada) , Mirko Mengozzi and Petra Loreggian .

As a singer-songwriter and leader of her first band called Acustica , Stefania Altomare won a stage in Reggio Calabria (2001 and got through the national final in  Palermo alongside the not yet famous band Negramaro)  and Brindisi (2003 getting through the National Final of Milano ),  then she got through  the semifinals on  Festival di San Marino contest  (2003 and 2004), San Remo Rock & Trend (2002), Accademia di San Remo ( the only access for unsigned artists to the "San Remo Music Festival" ) in 2002 and 2004) , Arezzo Wave Love Festival  (2002 and  2003) , and to the  Trofeo Miti della Musica Roxy Bar (2003) ; for the TV programme "Cosa Succede in Città" by Red Ronnie broacasted on  Canal Jimmy on Sky.

Since 2004 Stefania Altomare has been studying guitar technology  attending clinics and masterclasses of guitarists such as Greg Howe, Guthrie Govan, Brett Garsed , Carl Verheyen , Giacomo Castellano, Calro Fimiani and William Stravato.

In 2005 she has been called to start the band  Iguana in order to write original songs to feature  Giò Di Tonno ( the amazing Italian songwriter best known for playing  "Quasimodo" in the "Notre Dame de Paris " musical) as a producer and Gianni Santorsola as an executive producer.They wrote and recodred the single "Fuori Rotta" and they've been touring as opening act for Giò di Tonno's  live performances all over Italy.


She has been touring as a solo act  playing  rock-soul-acoustic sets  with guitar and harpoon singing both original and cover songs (Bob Dylan, The Cranberries, Otis Redding, Janis Joplin, Carole King) since the late Nineties.A lot of friends have been members of the "Stefania Altomare Band" playing live concerts in many different cities .

 
 
Once she determined to start producing her own works as a solo Artist, during the so called "My Space Era" Stefania Altomare entered into a recording Studio to produce and record her first EP called "A Time for Everything" which featured two tracks and some very good musicians.
The cover Art has been designed by the Cartoonist Paolo Piccione.
The EP was both available for streaming on Myspace and as a physical Cd.


Stefania Altomare used to travel on and off the UK very often for almost three years (2009/212), whence she has been touring the London Venues such as The Monkey Chews of Camden Town, The White Lion , The Abbey Tavern of Kentish Town, where she recorded a bunch of acoustic songs including the Ballad "I Love you from Faraway"  live at The Abbey Tavern 2010 and Fergie's cover (👉 ) "Big Girls Don't Cry" , live at The Monkey Chews 2009 which stil shows the old myspace cover art.
 The guy on mixer was Joel Armsden. 

 
 
 
The Open Mic nights are said to have been attended by many musicians who, being unsigned, wanted to record a demo of their songs to be heard by record labels. Some of them were Ellie Goulding, Eliza Doolittle, Newton Faulkner , Ed Sheeran.
On September 2010 she got through the national contest "Open Mic UK" and entered the Regional Final for Northern Uk which took place in Liverpool ( The Liner Hotel), the city of the Beatles .
The song she performed was "T.S.G.", a pop ballad inspired by the Oscar Wilde's short story "The Selfish Giant"
Before leaving London she bought an original Vox Digital Piano, a starting point for her to begin playing this instrument from scratch and to arranging, producing and writing new music.Unfortunely this piano got lost as she moved on.



 

  
 
In 2010 she was in the indipendent artists contest "LiveMi" run by  Red Ronnie and playing a live set with the  "Stefania Altomare Band" on the" Live Mi " stage at the Milano Piazza Duomo Underground. 
Her song  "A Time For Everything" has been selected to be featured into the  "LiveMi Vol.1" Compilation released on i-Tunes .For Stefania Altomare this was the first release for download and streaming.
 
On January 2020 Stefania Altomare showcased an acoustic set in the Ugo Coccia program "Ticket to Ride" on Rai Radio Live, featuring five of the most significant songs of her solo carreer.

In February 2021 Stefania Altomare has been selected for the Live Tour of the  Italian Contest "Sanremo Rock & Trend" as one of the Regional Finalists.
Tour dates are to be scheduled from June to September.
